The Internet has many good and interesting things but also contains information, which may be wrong, out of date, or might upset some people.  Please either print this page, or high-light the Safety Pledge below, copy and paste it into another program like Word or Excel, then print it. Go over the page with your parent or guardians, sign and keep on file.

My Online Safety Pledge
• I will not give out personal information such as my address, telephone number, parents’/guardians’ work address/telephone number, or the name and location of my school without my parents’/guardians’ permission.
• I will tell an adult right away if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable.
• I will never agree to get together with someone I “meet” online without first checking with my parents/guardians. If my parents/guardians agree to the meeting, I will be sure that it is in a public place and bring my parent or guardian along.
• I will never send a person my picture or anything else without first checking with my parents/guardians.
• I will not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message like that. If I do I will tell my parents/guardians right away so that they can contact the online service.
• I will talk with my parents/guardians so that we can set up rules for going online. We will decide upon the time of day that I can be online, the length of time I can be online, and appropriate areas for me to visit. I will not access other areas or break these rules without their permission.

Information about Flag Etiquette

Displaying the flag on the Fourth of July is a way of showing how much you love your country, but did you know there's a right way and a wrong way to fly it? This is a rundown on doing it right with 10 simple tips to get you started.  For a full rundown of the rules of flag flying, check out the U. S. Flag Code, otherwise known as the Federal Flag Amendment of 2007.

Girl Scout Commemorative Coin!

We all have an amazing opportunity at hand! There is a bill in Congress for a 100th anniversary commemorative coin. If the bill passes, a part of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Birthplace! Click HERE to go to the web site and sign the petition.  Be sure to tell all your friends and family! They need signers in every state.

Community Service Projects

Community Service is a very important aspect of Girl Scouts.

IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMUNITY SERVICE IDEAS TO SHARE, PLEASE CONTACT THE WEBSITE MANAGER TO HAVE THEM POSTED HERE!!

NEW!!  September 2010 - National Public Lands Day - a possible Community Service project for troops Check out this website to see the different ways Girl Scouts can get involved & register their project!

Ongoing - Here's a possible Community Service project for troops.  It would involve two different ways to help the homeless.  The Catholic church is gathering shampoo & bar soap (trial size or hotel giveaways only) and laundry soap (smallest size possible) for use at FISH’s laundry & shower facilities.  Also,  there is a need for people to make “Buddy Burners,” which are candle-type burners used for light & heat.    If you would like to participate or donate, please contact Natalie (desertrat4ever@frontiernet.net) for more info.

If you would be interested in collecting pop tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Salt Lake City, you may get an ice cream bucket from Shirley King. Fill the bucket up and your troop will get ice cream! Genevieve worked on her Bronze Award to promote the awareness of the RMHC and how important it is to those in our community.

Horizon Hospice is always in need of cheer-up cards. Your troop can make a difference by simply making Cards for these terminally ill people. Make them cheerful and write a little something about yourself. These cards should not be themed with a holiday, nor should they say Get Well Soon.

Spring Creek Service Unit could use some service with planning a fun day for Daisy and Brownie Recruitment and Events. When it comes to Community Service don’t forget the home base! We need help too!
